Hobby Update: Flesh Hounds

I completed my first unit of 5 Flesh Hounds. Out of the 2 lists I have been playing around with I have at least 1 unit.

Tactics: I find that Flesh Hounds are a great utility unit. The have good movement, “for a Blades units”. They do 4 attacks and can dispel one spell per turn. They are great at threatening lightly defended objectives and screening for my Bloodthirsters. They have average survivability, and tend to stick around longer than you expect them too. Running them in a 10 model unit gives a bonus to dispel, however that becomes a very costly unit. I think they are priced ok, if you compare them to Dire Wolves they are 8 points more each. With that extra cost you get 2 more attacks, one 8 inch shooting attack and a dispel. However Wolves can be healed. I think they could use a 2 to 4 point drop. But even at the current cost of 20 per models I find they have enough utility to make the cut in many lists.

These are some nice sculpts and offer very dynamic poses. They have some very big seams to fill, and I will admit that I thought I did a better job at it than I did. The large seams on their back hips are hard to file and you pretty much need to use putty to remove it. Other than that they painted up very fast, once you prime them red. They are basically only 5 base colors. I did not paint these to the highest level, because I am just trying to get them all done ASAP.
