Hobby Update: Dire Wolves

This is the final battle line unit for my Warzone Houston tournament list. I very much enjoyed painting these wolves, it was a great change of pace from all the ghost. I also have not painted any fur in the while and that was nice.

So these wolves are not the standard Death Dire Wolves models. I originally used the very old Warhammer fantasy wolves as my dire wolves, however I felt that I needed  an update to match all the other new models in my list. I decide to use Fennrisian Wolves because they look way better than the current Dire Wolves models. I just don’t like the giant heads on the undead beast. The Fennrisian Wolves are great, they are large and give the feel of giant wolves roaming the battlefield. The only down side to using these models is that they do not quite match the current Dire Wolves fluff. They are supposed to be un-dead creatures. When I built these models I started to give them more of an un-dead feel by gluing some swords and arrows sticking out of them, cutting some holes and greenstuffing some ribs and guts. However in the end time constraints just kept me on a more simple path.
